INTRODUCTION<\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;normal&#8221; color=&#8221;#000000&#8243;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Over the past two decades, the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) has been a beacon of learning and discovery for the community. The wide range of activities and exhibitions developed by the Centre has undoubtedly inspired countless children and adults to explore the wonders of science and technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hence, in the context of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary, the RGSC would like to celebrate and recognise all the champions and role models who, in one way or another, have contributed to STEM advocacy in the Republic of Mauritius. <strong><u>For this first edition, only projects and initiatives implemented between January 2022 to December 2023 will be considered.<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The STEM Excellence Award was launched on <strong><u>30 November 2023<\/u><\/strong> and will culminate in an Award Ceremony, which will be held in <strong>August <u>2024<\/u><\/strong> to mark the 20<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of the opening of the Centre.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_type=&#8221;row&#8221; type=&#8221;full_width&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;150px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_type=&#8221;row&#8221; type=&#8221;full_width&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: right;\">2. Timeline<\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;normal&#8221; color=&#8221;#000000&#8243;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The STEM Excellence Award was launched in November 2023, and interested people will be invited to register.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Phase 1: Registration of Participants &#8211; 31 May 2024<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Interested individuals\/institutions should register by filling out the online registration form.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Phase 2: Workshop\/Training of Participants \u2013 June 2024<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A preliminary evaluation will be carried out, and the selected participants will be invited to attend a training workshop, where they will be briefed on the way forward, the assessment criteria and the format for project submission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Phase 3: Submission of Final Project Report \u2013 July 2024<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Selected candidates will be invited to submit an <strong><u>online project report<\/u><\/strong>. (A standard template will be provided.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Phase 4: Selection of Finalists \u2013 June- July 2024<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All the project reports will be assessed by an independent Jury Panel composed of researchers\/academics\/scientists\/professionals from the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Phase 5: Finals <\/em><\/strong><em>(Presentation of best projects) <strong>\u2013 August 2024<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Five finalists in each category will be invited to make a 15-minute presentation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Phase 6: Award Ceremony August 2024<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An award ceremony will be held in August 2024 to reward the best projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_type=&#8221;row&#8221; type=&#8221;full_width&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;40px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_type=&#8221;row&#8221; type=&#8221;full_width&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: right;\">4. Who Can Participate<\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;normal&#8221; color=&#8221;#000000&#8243;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Individuals\/Government Institutions\/NGOs\/Clubs\/Associations\/Private Companies who have demonstrated leadership and undertaken outstanding initiatives to promote or apply STEM for the betterment of Mauritian citizens. Participation is not limited to professionals from the education sector. Thus, participants can come from any field.
