National Science Week 2024

Theme: “Innovating for a Sustainable Future: STEM and Mauritius 2030”

 

The Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology is organising the next edition of the National Science Week 2024 from 25-29 March 2024 at Cote D’Or National Sports Complex focusing on the above theme.

 

Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the National Science Week are to:

  1. Communicate science and technology in the community
  2. Promote public understanding of science issues
  3. Reveal the practical importance of Science and Technology in various sectors of the Mauritian economy.
  4. Encourage the youth to embark into science-oriented careers
  5. Encourage Hands-on teaching and learning of STEM
  6. Prepare Mauritius to face future scientific and Technological challenges

The event will constitute of two main components:

(i)  An exhibition on Science and Technology

Various stakeholders from Ministries and parastatal bodies and also the private sector displayed to the public their work in relation to Science and Technology.

 

(ii)  Parallel thematic events

A series of thematic seminars, conferences, talks and workshops on Science and Technology.

 

Science for Primary schools- Poster Contest

The Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) is launching a science poster competition among primary schools across Mauritius in the context of the National Science Week 2024.The Theme is “Wonders of Science”. The contest aims to inspire young minds to question and learn about the application of science in their daily experiences.RGSC is inviting each primary school to submit a maximum of TWO posters prepared by pupils of Grades 5 and 6. Pupils are invited to conduct basic research and experimentation on science topics of their choice. The poster should introduce the topic, briefly outline the aims, procedure and results.The poster should be mounted on a Sheet of Bristol Paper or cardboard A2size (Approximately 75cm by 60cm).
